Is it just me, or is it starting to feel like almost every actor that we know and love is working on developing a project for one of the many streaming services out there? It seems like the number of these announcements is increasing at an overwhelming rate. Still, we’re still pretty pleased about each of them! The latest actor to work on a show for a streamer is the Punisher himself. Jon Bernthal is currently developing a project for Amazon Prime Video.

Bernthal (The Punisher, The Walking Deadis developing The Bottoms for the streaming giant. Bernthal is set to create, co-write, and star.  He is joined by co-writer and co-executive producer Ben Watkins. Reinaldo Marcus Green is planning on directing the series, as well as executive producing. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Justin Levy, Rian Cahill, and Fred Berger will be executive producing under Automatik.

The Bottoms will tell a story filled with interconnecting families and other social structures in Shreveport, Louisiana. Taking place in the early 90s, we’ll see the Deep South in all of its drama. Few other details have been announced. Though, if its anything like the Jon Bernthal content that we’ve grown to know and love, we expect some gritty drama and the portrayal of genuine human connection and conflict.

The series is still early in development, so it will likely be some time before we hear anything more. Though, fans of Bernthal will still get plenty of content in the upcoming year! He is set to star in King Richard, The Many Saints of Newark, and Those Who Wish Me Dead, all Warner Bros. films.
