At this point in time, I feel like we will hear about additions and alterations to the Justice League Snyder Cut till the day it releases. On top of the many reshoots which included Jared Leto’s Joker and Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, now we learn of a new actor as well. Harry Lennix, who played General Stanwick in Man Of Steel, confirms that he reshot scenes as Martian Manhunter in Snyder Cut. The alien character was always supposed to be in Justice League under Zack Snyder’s vision. However, many changes within the script and execution resulted in his exclusion. While we saw storyboards depicting the character before, nothing was ever shot. But Lennix’s confirmation is another thing to look forward to in the Justice League Snyder Cut.

During a conversation with Collider, Lennix confirmed he was part of the reshoots for Justice League Snyder Cut, releasing on HBO Max later this year. The character of General Stanwick appeared in the original two movies of the now-defunct, DCEU, Man Of Steel, and Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. At the time, however, Lennix had no idea that his character was the martian in hiding.

“I never saw the script. I didn’t get a chance to read the script, because… they were still being developed, and they keep all of that under lock and key,”

Lennix’s Stanwick was to reveal himself as the other Justice League member in Snyder’s original vision of the movie. With only storyboards, it seems like Snyder needed Lennix to return for some additional shots. While he will probably morph into the Manhunter through CGI, it seems they got the shots they needed. And Lennix definitely seems excited to finally appear on the screen as a popular comic book character.

“It’s going to be great to be up there with Batman and Superman and my pals,” he said. “Yeah, I’m once again like a kid at a candy store.”

The Martian Manhunter Is A Wonderful Character

Originally in the comics, the Martian Manhunter was a refugee of Mars, escaping to Earth. Taking on the alter ego of John Jones, a police detective, the alter ego of General Stanwick also makes sense. The character is very much rationale and logic behind the Justice League, many times mediating emotional conflicts between its members. Martian Manhunter appears in The CW’s Supergirl played by David Harewood.

Justice League Snyder Cut will premiere on HBO Max later this year.
