Forever Purge Trailer: All Purge Things Come To An End
The trailer for The Forever Purge, the *sniff* final entry in the Purge Cinematic Universe, has dropped. The Purge is over, babes. Or is it? Let’s take a look at this trailer and see what’s to come for the movie and, possibly, the franchise after this film.
The Purge Is Coming to an End?!
I know! Stop saying it! But we should have known. As early as three years ago, just after The First Purge, which is actually the fourth Purge movie, hit theaters, creator and writer James DeMonaco was already thinking about the end. In fact, he told Entertainment Weekly then, “I have it in my head. I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home.”

And apparently he was onto something, because he has written the fifth installment, which is the last entry in the series. I mean, for now. You know the kind of world live in, where there’s a Faces of Death reboot one week and a Children of the Corn remake the week before that. So I would very surprised if I live another 150 years without seeing the Purge return to theaters.
The Forever Purge Trailer Shows Us the Next Step
After all, if there’s one thing the Purge Cinematic Universe has shown us, it’s that the film and TV franchise is adept at incorporating real-life issues into its storylines. Unsurprisingly then, it continues that mission with The Forever Purge. Set after the events of 2016’s The Purge: Election Year, which saw the annual Purge abolished, this film follows a couple from Mexico who are trying to outrun a cartel. They take refuge on a ranch in Texas. Unfortunately, some folks are having a hard time shaking the Purge. All hell then breaks loose after that.
As we can see in the trailer, Mexico tries to do us a solid by opening up their border to fleeing Americans. Well, well, well, how the turntables. Ain’t that somethin’? Anyway, this thankfully isn’t one of those trailers that gives away the whole story, so I have no idea how it’ll all turn out. But watching narcos face off with Purgers? Hmm, interesting.
The Forever Purge, which Everardo Gout directed, will be in theaters July 2. It stars Josh Lucas, Ana de la Reguera, Cassidy Freeman, Will Patton, and Leven Rambin.
