Fast And Furious 9 Trailer Is A Lot More Than Just F9

The Fast And Furious 9 Trailer is the ninth installment of the popular series of movies. This is a franchise that film critic and moviegoers alike dismissed for years. The trendy gimmick of street racing and flashy cars turned into so much more. Somehow every subsequent movie refreshed, reinvigorated, and even revived the property. The fact that there are 10 movies in this franchise (counting Hobbs & Shaw) shows that this is a series that will have an effect on pop culture in the future.

The Fast And The Furious Ushered In A New Era Of Action Movies 19 Year Ago

The Fast And The Furious released in 2001. It was about an undercover cop infiltrating a racing crew gang that stole electronics from moving trucks. The movie kickstarted a franchise that would defy physics, reason, and any suspension of disbelief. For 19 years the Fast And Furious movies provided entertainment to audiences that knew exactly what they would be getting. They created characters that, despite all odds, fans really started to care about.

The chemistry between Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian (the late Paul Walker) redefined the concept of bromances, especially for the conventional testosterone-fuelled modern-day action movie. The stars’ on-screen chemistry spilled over into the real world. After Walker’s untimely death, fans saw that friendship made its way into real life. The cast of the franchise came together for solidarity and even gave the actor and his character a heartwarming send-off in his final movie. The franchise continued forward in a way that was never disrespectful or hollow. The stories endured, got more outrageous and introduced levels of eye-roll-worthy fun and adventure that most movies could never pull off.

The Fast Saga Knows Exactly What It Is And It Delivers

The franchise is now The Fast Saga, clearly inspired by Marvel StudiosThe Infinity Saga. And The Fast Saga gives audiences exactly what it promises, and nothing more, nothing less. Each movie in the franchise retcons the story and plays fast and loose with continuity. Killing characters, then reviving them, then making villains into heroes and so much more. There’s probably no other action franchise that is as unrealistic, full of plotholes, and incredibly cringe-worthy as The Fast Saga. But that’s alright. All the makers involved are aware of exactly what this franchise in, and lean into the ridiculous aspects. And so do the fans. The movies are pure and silly fun, providing entertainment that’s completely cynic-proof. And trust me, I’ve tried.

I’ve hopped on and off the Fast and Furious bandwagon more times than I can count. Because just when you think you’re done, the next movie brings an action sequence or a new star into the franchise that tempts you to return. And the stars of the franchise as just as amazing and confusing as the movies themselves. Even though it came from films, they borrow heavily from comic book logic. Characters come back to life or betray others in a way that is both sudden and inevitable.

The Cast Of The Fast And Furious 9 Trailer Is Intense

The 9th film of The Fast Saga makes its presence known in the Fast And Furious trailer. This also marks the first Fast And Furious without Dwayne Johnson since its reinvention. This was due to the reported beef he had with Vin Diesel in the previous movie. Thus necessitating his spin-off in Hobbs & Shaw.

But the cast of the is impressive. The majority of the crew returns with Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordan Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Nathalie Emmanuel all back for another ride. But prestige actors like Helen Mirren And Charlize Theron also return, reprising their roles from the previous film. Most importantly, the button of the Fast And Furious 9 trailer brings a familiar face back, which raises a lot of questions.

Han Lives In the Fast And Furious 9 Trailer

There may have been a lot of confusion with the #HanLives and #JusticeForHan hashtags trending on social media after the release of the Fast And Furious 9 trailer. As Star Wars fans scratched their heads, fans of The Fast Saga were just as confused, despite knowing the context.

Sung Kang’s Han was a character introduced in the third movie of the franchise, The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Han died in that movie. However, the character returned in the 3 subsequent films, which acted as prequels to the events of Tokyo Drift. His death in the third movie was later retconned as having occurred at the end of the 6th movie, by Jason Statham’s character.

At the end of the Fast And Furious 9 trailer, Han shows up alive and well, strolling into the crew’s lair. Since Fast And Furious 9 occurs very much in the present day, this has to mean that Han survived. Somehow.

The Fast And The Furious 9 Trailer Is All About Family. Obviously.

The Fast Saga’s unofficial tagline has always been about family. It’s a sentiment uttered multiple times by Diesel’s character, and almost everyone else at one time or another. Fast And Furious 9 takes it a step further by having John Cena’s character, be Dom’s actual brother in the movie. Seemingly the bad guy of the 9th movie, along with Theron, Cena will be going up directly against Diesel in action sequences that look edge-of-the-seat riveting. The almost 4-minute Fast And Furious 9 trailer showcases some of the best car chases, two-person fights, and outrageous stunts that shock and awe. Not to mention raise anticipation for the movie that much more.

The franchise seemed in dire straights after the separation of Johnson and Diesel, and there was much criticism about Cena’s addition given his and Johnson’s wrestling background. However, the Fast And Furious 9 trailer clearly showcases the franchise’s incredibly long shelf life, despite whatever behind the scenes drama occurred. Directed by Justin Lin, Fast & Furious 9 certainly looks like a return to form of the franchise. It brings back the adrenaline fuelled excitement for unbelievable stunts and over the top action for an experience-driven by pure joy in its simplest form.

Fast And Furious 9 releases on May 22, 2020.
