With Disney’s new streaming service all the rage, there’s one character that will not appear on the Disney+ MCU shows. Chadwick Boseman, in an interview promoting his new movie, talks about his Disney+ future, or lack thereof.

What Disney+ MCU Shows?

If for whatever reason you haven’t heard about the Disney+ MCU shows, then you’re in for a treat. Disney-owned Marvel Studios will now be creating limited series TV shows, exclusively for Disney+ with characters directly from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (MCU).

The shows announced thus far are Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Loki, Wandavision and Hawkeye. On top of shows featuring familiar characters, the Disney+ MCU shows will also introduce new characters to the shared universe with shows like Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.

The Big Deal About Disney+ Having MCU Shows

So far, Marvel Studios’ cinematic film universe has been relatively separate from Marvel TV. The TV shows such as Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Netflix collaborations of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and The Defenders were also set in the MCU. However, they only referred to a few key major events in the universe. No cross-over ever directly happened.

And while AoS featured direct consequences from the events of the movies, the show was largely separate in its own little corner of the universe.

So having characters from the movies getting their own MCU shows on Disney+ is a pretty big deal. Especially when we have confirmation that not only the characters but even events from the shows will be relevant and necessary to understand the future movies.

Disney+ MCU Shows Will Not See Black Panther appear.

While promoting his new movie, 21 Bridges, Chadwick Boseman sat down for an interview with MTV International.

In the interview, when asked about which Avengers co-star he would like to team up with, Boseman had an interesting comment.

“I wouldn’t, because I don’t want to do a TV Show.”

While Boseman seemed almost reluctant to give that reason, he did further clarify the comments. Boseman revealed that there are some other things he’d like to do, and none of them are franchises.

Chadwick Boseman Before Black Panther

The reaction almost made it seem like he was condescending to TV shows. Which is weird given that his career started off with the TV. Before his big film debut in 42, Boseman has appeared on many hit TV shows such as Law & Order, CSI: NY, ER, Cold Case, Finge, Castle and many more.

Boseman was also a series regular on shows such as Persons Unknown and Lincoln Heights.

While there is little divide between TV and movies anymore, Boseman’s reaction feels like he thinks he’s too good for Television. Although, it could easily have come from a different place entirely. The Disney+ MCU shows announced so far are all featuring secondary characters. So for Boseman’s Black Panther, one of the solo-hero franchises of the MCU, it may seem like a step down to appear on a TV show. Although, Boseman is set to be voicing Black Panther for the animated Disney+ MCU show, What If…?

21 Bridges releases everywhere on November 22.
