Today is the day DC fans have been waiting for years. The DCEU is in turbulent times. Board changes, movie cancellations, and actor layoffs have made headlines in recent months. To solve this solution, David Zaslav put James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm of DC movies.

Since the appointment of these two executives, we have had no official announcements. However, James Gunn has been active on Twitter, giving some information. One of them was the firing of Henry Cavill as Superman. This change opened the door to a new beginning for the DC Universe on the small and big screen. This new era will be a reboot that will break the canon opened by Zack Snyder ten years ago.

Now James Gunn and Peter Safran will have to rebuild the universe of the DC movies. However, a large part of the fandom loved the characters of the old DCU, like Henry Cavill’s Superman. Plus, they will have to compete with the already unsaturated MCU.

The question James Gunn will resolve today is whether it will be a TOTAL reboot of the franchise. This would mean eliminating Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), and Ezra Miller (Flash) from his rosters. It will also remain to be seen what will happen to the universe created by Gunn himself. The director already created a small universe of DC movies with The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Will he continue with it?

Another question that fans are asking is whether they will continue with standalone DC movies, such as The Batman or Joker. These movies with no connection to the DCEU were very successful, and Warner Bros. already confirmed a Penguin series connected to Matt Reeves’ movie. In addition, they also confirmed the sequel to Joker, which will be titled Folie a Deux

Who will Play Superman in the New DCEU?

However, the question of most interest is who will play the new Superman. If there was one thing DC fans agreed on, it was that Henry Cavill is the perfect Superman. However, James Gunn announced via a Tweet that Cavill would not be returning as the Man of Steel. The director said he is looking for a younger Superman for this reboot.

This may be the most critical DC movie in the medium term. Superman is one of Warner Bros. Discovery’s most valuable IPs, and the actor must be up to the task. Here we commented that Jacob Elordi sounded like a possible candidate. However, James Gunn denied this information, commenting that he was still writing the script.

Does this mean that he will announce the new Superman today? If so, it will mean he also has the new movie script ready.
