Kevin Feige Confirms Charlie Cox Is Back As MCU Daredevil Ahead Of First Appearance
Look, there are two types of people in the world right now: people who have kept up with Spider-Man: No Way Home spoilers, and people who are actively ignoring them. If you’re part of the former group, the latest announcement from Kevin Feige about the Matt Murdock of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yes, the head honcho of Marvel Studios just confirmed that Charlie Cox is back as Daredevil in the MCU. Season 1 of the Netflix Daredevil series is peak Marvel television, so this is just another smart play from the executive who took Marvel from being a distant Number Two in live-action comics adaptations to owning American pop culture. This is great news for fans of both the Save Daredevil movement and for anyone who likes the character.
In an interview with Cinemablend.com, Feige addressed Charlie Cox coming back as Daredevil in a remarkably candid answer. “If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things,” he said, “Charlie Cox…would be the actor.” However, he stopped short of saying when and where we might see him next. It’s also unclear if he’s just going to be popping up for a cameo, or if there is a new project in the works. Personally, I hope it’s the latter, and we see Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Elodie Yung, Amy Rutberg, Ayelet Zurer, and others from the series.
Now, if you want to stay completely spoiler-free for upcoming Marvel Studios joints, we can assure that you will likely be seeing Daredevil characters in the MCU very, very soon. For the spoiler-consuming degenerates like me, we’ll talk details below the scene that captured fans’ hearts in the original.

Despite all of the secrecy surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home, it seems that there have been a lot of leaks. We’ve known key details of the plot since summer. One longshot rumor, however, said that Charlie Cox would show up as Matt Murdock defending Peter Parker in court. I fully admit, dear readers, I thought this was complete bullshit. Other than Jennifer Walters (who honestly would make more sense with She-Hulk coming up), Matt Murdock is the only big-name Marvel lawyer. I also suspected that Marvel Studios would not reintroduce the character in a film where Sony makes the money.
Yet, a very convincing leaked image showed Cox in costume as Murdock sitting around a table with Peter Parker’s family. Star Tom Holland revealed a mystery character participated in a conversation about being a hero with Marissa Tomei, Jon Favreau, and himself in that very setting. Now, if the leaks continue to be accurate, we will not see Cox suit up as Daredevil, however a post-credits scene will feature him and (at least a reference to) the costume. We can then expect him to pop up in She-Hulk, where being an attorney is a key part of that story.
We also suspect, given the character’s comic book connections, that Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as Kingpin A.K.A. Wilson Fisk in the Echo series, if not sooner in Hawkeye. Regardless, it’s great news for fans of great Marvel stories that Cox’s tenure as Daredevil will continue.
Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters December 17, 2021, and Hawkeye debuts new episodes Wednesdays on Disney+.
