The new trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania revealed several plot easter eggs and details you may have missed.

Marvel releases continue shaking the movie world. Marvel’s Phase IV will close with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in November. Then, we’ll be getting more productions early next year. The most prominent one so far is Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania which released its new trailer yesterday.

The new trailer revealed several aspects and confirmed others, for example, which version of Kang: The Conqueror we will see in this movie. Also, we saw part of the plot and several objects of vital importance for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. The trailer also showed a possible new character or hero that could join the MCU’s repertoire.

8 Plot Details in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania‘s Trailer

The Wasp: A new, Tighter Version

From the beginning of the franchise, Hope had a more clerical look with long hair and wearing ponytails. That look was consistent in the second film. However, she will look different in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. In the trailer, we see Hope wearing short hair, adjusting more to the character’s features. Both in the comics and in the animated series, The Wasp (Hope’s mother) has this quality. This new look will likely delight fans seeing more similarity between the films and the comics.

New Artefact for the Quantum Realm

Another detail revealed in the trailer is the possible trigger for the journey to the quantum realm. It is a satellite Cassie created and will be tested by Hope, Scott Lang, Dr Pym and Janet, although the latter is not very convinced. However, something makes her uneasy during the test, and she asks the young woman to turn off the machine. But it is too late, and they are all dragged into this dimension.

One aspect of the machine they made noticeable in the trailer is a blue orb that serves as the satellite’s power source. This part is not only denoted in this invention; we also see it in several of Kang’s weapons and ships.

Ant-Man, The Wasp and Kang’s Plot

One aspect they showed is Scott’s interaction with Kang in his He Who Remains version. The protagonist will have to help him some a problem, although it will be against his will since the tyrant is holding his daughter Cassie hostage. This edition of the villain shows many scars, giving an imposing appearance. The trailer also shows a conversation between the two. It reveals the existence of several versions of the villain when He Who Remains tells Ant-Man, “if you think I am evil, wait until you meet my variants”.

Chronopolis

The trailer shows the city where Kang dwells and reigns for a short period. This city looks all futuristic, being the center of conquest filled with ships powered by blue orbs, just like the one on Cassie’s satellite. This space is free from the influence of time, and from there, Kang sees time moving in different multiverses. He uses this to predict catastrophic events and to monitor the various editions of time created by time travel. We may hear this city mentioned in Loki‘s new season, considering it ended just as Kang took control of it.

A Possible New Heroine in the MCU

At the end of the promotional video for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Scott’s daughter wears a purple outfit. She is standing next to Ant-Man and The Wasp, which leads us to believe she will be a new team member. Considering that Cassie’s dream was always to fight alongside her father, she will fulfil her wish in this film. As for the character or hero she will be, there are still doubts about this. The most likely options are Stature or Stinger, and this would leave an opening for a Marvel saga, The Young Avengers.

The Rings of Power

Some objects that do not go unnoticed are the rings of power that Kang uses, presumably as energy sources. These appear when the conqueror appears and in several of the buildings in Chronopolis. The rings are in several Marvel Phase IV films, or objects with similar characteristics. The engraving on Kang’s power rings resembles the Kamala Khan bracelet, which she uses to activate Ms Marvel’s powers. They also look like the rings and bracelets in the movies Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals.

Bill Murray’s Character in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Reveals Bill Murray's Marvel Character

The trailer confirmed the appearance of actor Bill Murray, who starred in the 1980s Ghostbusters saga. The footage showed the actor inside the quantum realm, friends with Janet; they met during their extended stay in that dimension. However, his actions will not be all good. The character’s name doesn’t appear in the trailer, and Marvel did not comment much about it. However, a strong rumor suggests that it is Krylar and that he would have a romantic interest in Janet.

Janet’s Secret

Another aspect of the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania plot revealed is Janet’s panic about the quantum world. We see it when Cassie says they are sending them some signal. That frightens Janet, who communicates to her that there are few secrets about the quantum realm she did not tell her daughter or her husband. It is likely that the signal is from Kang and that Janet already had an encounter with this villain previously.

As can be detailed, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania will have new surprises, not only with new villains but with new heroes. The movie will hit theaters on February 17, 2023.
As for the cast of this filming, we have Kathryn Newton as Casey Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope / Wasp, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, and Jonathan Majors in the role of Kang. We will also see Bill Murray, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet and Michael Douglas as Henry Pym.
