Superior Spider-Man

Superior Spider-Man was published under Marvel Comics between the years 2013 and 2014. The writer was Dan Slott and the artwork were done by Ryan Stegman, Giuseppe Camuncoli, and Humberto Ramos. The series returned in May 2014 and saw a continuation in July 2018 called The Superior Octopus.

About Superior Spider-Man

The series primarily revolves around the plot where a dying Otto Octavious swaps bodies with Spiderman, or Peter Parker. In this process, Peter Parker dies in Octavious’ body. However, Doctor Octopus begins to turn over a new leaf and realize his past transgressions. He decides to become a superhero where he attempts to be a more superior version of Spider-Man than Peter Parker, and a better person than his former self.

Superior Spider-Man was meant to be a sequel to the ‘Dying Wish’ timeline which was at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man series. It was also crossed into other storylines such as Superior Spider-Man Team-Up and Avenging Spider-Man. The series was first announced by Marvel Comics in September 2012 and then officially announced by the creative team at the New York Comic Con 2012.

When the series was announced, it was met with the dismay and unhappiness of fans and critics alike. However, when they began to see the value of this new approach to the Spiderverse, they began to appreciate the beautiful artwork and great writing.
