I know a lot of people who are playing Warzone. If you’re like me, then you’re probably only enjoying the game during certain matches. Nothing is worse than entering a game, finding a few favorite weapons, and dying almost immediately. The map size in Warzone is fairly large, but skills are definitely helpful in avoiding early deaths and frustrating matches. If you’re trying to pick up your game, then there are a few things you need to be doing to keep up with the top players. Here are some Warzone tips and tricks to take you to the next level.

A few things to keep in mind about Warzone. Firstly, this is a battle royale, which means random deaths you can’t control are going to happen. Just like any first-person shooter online, it’s frustrating dying without getting a chance to fight back. Just get used to it; it happens to all of us. That being said, you can’t play Warzone like a traditional multiplayer shooter. Even if you’re bummed about bounties leaving the game, there’s still a lot to love. Here are the best ways to get started as a newcomer.

Manage Killstreaks Strategically

There are a lot of players on Modern Warfare who use their killstreaks as soon as they get them. In Warzone, that’s going to leave you high and dry as you reach the final 20 players. If you don’t bank a killstreak, then you’re immediately at a disadvantage. My best tip for this is to plan for the 50 players’ mark to be your reset mode. Using killstreaks before this should leave you plenty of time to get another one before you enter the late-game period. 

Anticipate the Closed Circle

Like most battle royale games, the map shrinks as you play to bring players in close quarters towards the end. Rather than wait to see where the circle is minimizing, try to anticipate the areas which might diminish. Think about it: when that circle closes, everyone runs towards it. Wouldn’t you rather be in a position to pick people off than running with the herd? This could be a great way to increase your kill streak before the final 15 players remain.

Ammo is Everything

I don’t care what gun you have. Without ammo, it’s going to be useless. Those late game moments are absolute chaos and those with more ammo tend to fare the best. Keep something handy with low recoil if you can as well. As the map shrinks and everyone is closer together, you want to be precise in your kills.

There’s nothing like the feeling of victory. If you play Warzone a few times in a row and don’t finish in the top 15 or so, it’s heartbreaking. Make sure to follow these tips to ensure better performances in the game. 

Manage your Location Carefully

Something I see a lot of novice players do in Warzone is mismanage their location. It’s a double edged sword: you can’t stay put too long, but moving around is also dangerous. How do you manage this difficult situation? The best way that I find to work the map is to always move to a space you’ll use as a central location. When you venture out, always know where you are in relation to this spot. There are a lot of great items out there for you from kills and finding undiscovered spaces, but you need a place to run back to if things go hazy. 

Take Every Contract You Can

In Warzone, contracts earn you additional cash and XP. If you can take them, try to complete every contract. The benefits are well worth it, and if you don’t use the contracts, you might find yourself a little bored. I think Warzone’s implementation of the contract system is fantastic. It keeps the game interesting rather than finding everyone is camping. Be aggressive with contract kills and keep an eye out for those who might be hunting you.

Support for Call of Duty Warzone has been tremendous. My first impressions of Warzone were positive, but I enjoy the game more now than ever. Now that Infinity Ward is getting after the Warzone crossplay cheaters on PC, it’s only getting better for us console gamers. I think getting better at this game comes with practice. Playing a few rounds each day might not be enough to make you better, however.
