Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has been a breath of fresh air for fans. It brings back enough from the Borderlands to feel familiar. But, it offers a unique series of twists and mechanics to be unique. Now, it seems like Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands franchise is set to grow.

The game has created unique characters, like Frette and Valentine. Plus, it offers a game length that’s pleasing to grind and beat. Plus, you get a bunch of content depending on which version you buy.

As it turns out, the game gained a lot of love from the gaming market. During Embracer’s general annual meeting, they discussed the game’s success. And, it was quite overwhelming.

Things went so well that Gearbox is already thinking about following the franchise. Of course, we might expect more DLC to come in the future. But, the news paves the way for entire titles to come.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a great victory for Gearbox

The Borderlands spin-off title got dubbed as a “great victory” for Gearbox. The success meant that the game is now “a new franchise” on the studio’s hands. With that in mind, more “experiences” are being developed.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands came out earlier this year. It was a combination between Borderlands and tabletop RPG games. It was a spin-off from Borderlands’ Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. The DLC was so successful that it inspired a full game.

Wonderlands turned the DLC’s feeling and mechanics into a full game. In that way, it managed to be familiar enough for Borderlands fans. Yet, its uniqueness managed to captivate fans on its own.

Both critics and players received the game fondly. They praised its originality, universe, and new gameplay aspects. The game shattered Gearbox’s expectations in all aspects.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands franchise: A new reality for the company

The Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands franchise has gotten the green light from the developers. The game’s success meant that the developer is finally going all-in into the franchise.

Randy Pitchford, Gearbox’s CEO, commented on the game’s success. He stated that the game surpassed all expectations. And, it set a beachhead for the franchise. “We now clearly have a new franchise in our hands,” he said.

Moreover, future experiences are under development by Gearbox. Yet, we can’t say for sure what that means. Naturally, DLC has already been additions to the game. So, it’s safe to say that we’ll see more of it in the future.

However, it’s too early to say whether Wonderlands 2 is under development. But, we could expect a sequel or follow-up of some sort. Gearbox has several AAA games under development. So, an early blueprint might already be in the works.

Selling way beyond expectations paves the way for more titles

The main reason why Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is getting franchised is its performance. The game broke expectations both in reviews and sales. The game quickly became a new IP for the company.

Gearbox’s CEO announced that the game was an important victory. It quickly set itself as a potential equivalent to Borderlands. The title’s success was enough to set a bridge for future games in the universe.

Furthermore, the team is currently developing new content for the title. Sadly, it’s still too early to tell whether it’ll be a new game. Given the recent release, it’s probably too soon for a direct sequel. However, follow-ups and further content are a huge possibility.
