PS4 Game Release Dates for The Last of Us 2, Ghosts of Tsushima
Sony announced the PS4 game release dates for two high-profile 2020 titles. COVID-19 uncertainty led some to expect major delays for these titles. Both The Last of Us 2 and Ghosts of Tsushima are set to release this summer. Here are the dates for these highly anticipated games.
The Last of Us 2 and Ghosts of Tsushima PS4 Game Release Dates
Some leaks regarding The Last of Us 2 led to many gamers feeling upset with the title. Full warning to all fans of the Naughty Dog series: leaks do exist online for the story. In fact, full cutscenes are available to see if you want spoilers. That’s never a good position to be in as a publisher. Sony is probably feeling pressure to get The Last of Us 2 out for this reason. Plus, people want to play it. Profits lost due to COVID-19 could really make a significant bounce back thanks to these titles. On the latest Sony blog, release dates for both this title and Ghosts of Tsushima offered a light at the end of this wild tunnel.

I was a bit worried the confirmed release of the PS5 by Sony might influence them to delay these games. Why not just put them off until the new console? In reality, these games will release on both consoles. Still, a PS4 copy was promised, and they’re going to come this summer. The Last of Us Part II will arrive on June 19, and Ghost of Tsushima will follow on July 17.
The Trouble of Releasing Games During the Coronavirus
It’s a really tough time to release a game. As people save their money for non-expected financial strains, games might not be on everyone’s mind. Sony knows this but has to put these games out as a sign that things are running smoothly. Without these titles this year, fans might get upset that the delay until the PS5 was a big middle finger to longtime supporters. I think releasing these games is the right move, whether people can buy them now or later on when things are calmer.
