In 2001, Microsoft earned its first bonafide hit with Halo: Combat Evolved. If you read my piece on the history of Halo, then you understand how huge this game was. Even better, you might have been gaming when it was released. It’s hard to forget how revolutionary the game felt at the time. Even then, PC gamers had to wait two more years to play Halo, and it’s been a difficult situation ever since.

When Microsoft announced The Master Chief Collection for PC, everyone celebrated. The collection puts together Halo 1-4, as well as Halo: ODST and Halo: Reach. Oddly enough, the enhanced version of the original Halo, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, was not included in the PC collection. Well, today finally brings the remastered original campaign to PC players.

How to Get Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for PC

Those who own the PC’s The Master Chief Collection can download the game for free. Better yet, if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for PC, you can download all Halo titles for free. If you’re curious about the service, then read all about what Xbox Game Pass is and why it’s a great deal.

It is incredible to see Halo still getting people so excited 19 years after its original release. Not only is Halo Infinite one of the most anticipated 2020 Xbox games, but it gets even better. The Showtime Halo TV series is under production, and after years of rumors, we’re finally seeing the Master Chief in a full fledged space sci-fi epic series. Man, it’s a good time to be a Halo fan.
