Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Project Announced And More!
A while ago, a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel project was an odd thought. The game’s release was a mess, to say the least. The game was buggy, felt incomplete, and didn’t have a clear identity. But, things have improved for those who stuck with it.
The newest patches and updates have brought the game to solid quality. The company’s CEO has stated their satisfaction with the game’s stability. Indeed, the latest patches did a lot to improve user experience. Some would say it’s closer to the original idea.
Of course, then the anime series came to Netflix. And, the game gained a lot of traction and support. Many were blown away by the anime series’ quality. The original video game saw a huge surge in new players.
As it seems, that was more than enough to guarantee the game’s future. So, let’s dive into what’s coming from CD Projekt Red.
A sequel is already in the works, probably thanks to anime

Today, CD Projekt Red announced that they were working on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel project. The code name for the new title is Orion. The main plan is to keep exploring the dystopian universe of the game.
Currently, we know little about the game, other than the code name. However, the studio seems to plan an expansion. The new title will require a new hub in Boston. This expansion will focus solely on Project Orion. And, it’ll work alongside the Vancouver location.
After its 2020 release, the game’s bugs and performance issues led to many complications. PlayStation and Microsoft pulled the game from their stores. And, the title costed millions in refunds to CD Projekt Red.
However, it likely wasn’t a major setback for the company. The developer continued to release constant updates. Plus, they’re currently working in an expansion for the original game.
This approach has kept fans engaged. Moreover, it’s attracted new players. The Cyberpunk 2077 anime also came as a major reinforcement. The series was a major success. So, it brought new life to the original video game.

Many Twitter users expressed their hype for the sequel. The example above, from Cody Ware, shows evidence of that. The NASCAR driver expressed how he was “stoked” about the news.
The post does state that he’d temper his expectations. That’s only natural after the original release’s disaster. But, he mentions CD Projekt Red’s support as a reason to be excited.
And, many users have agreed that the company’s support is a big plus. The latest patches received wide acclaim. And, the player base has spiked in later days. All of that is a testament to the company’s commitment to the game.
Not the only important news coming from CD Projekt Red
However, Cyberpunk 2077 sequel project isn’t the only sequel in the works for CD Projekt Red. In fact, there are a bunch of titles in the works. The company defined a parallel development strategy for the long term. Eurogamer covered the subject extensively.
Firstly, we have The Witcher series.
The series will receive three new games, project Sirius, Polaris, and Canis Majoris. Project Sirius is a new game from The Molasses Flood. Then, Project Polaris will be the first game of a new trilogy. Lastly, Project Canis Majoris will be an open-world RPG. It’s being developed by ex-Witcher team members.
On the other hand, we’ve got Project Hadar. We know nothing about the game. It’s early in the creative process stage. Yet, it’ll be a brand-new IP from the company.
Finally, we have the company’s intent to implement multiplayer into future titles. We previously believed it was for Cyberpunk 2077 sequel project. Now, we might expect it to come in these future developments.
