The Comic Years Podcast: The Dawn Of Talking About The Snyder Cut
The infamous Snyder Cut is now out and available for praise, criticism, and much debate. The 4-hour epic film came out just a few days ago and dominated the news cycle. Zack Snyder’s ultimate plans for the DC Extended Universe are realized in the Snyder Cut. It’s been an uphill battle, through a lot of negativity, scrutiny, and most of all, fervent fan reaction. In both ways. But what Snyder originally planned to do with the DC Comics’ flagship characters is finally realized. Well, almost. Kind of? Regardless, it’s an event that the Comic Years Podcast has to mark with a new episode. So join Joshua M. Patton and me as we discuss the origins of this movie in Zack Snyder’s Justice League podcast episode.
Please note: this episode is a Spoiler-filled discussion on the entire DCEU, including Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Read my non-spoiler Review of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and check it out on HBO Max, before deep diving with us. Unless you don’t care, in which case, read on intrepid listener!
Contextualizing This Justice League In A Podcast

There is a lot of conversation that must be had about Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Almost too much for a single discussion. So this Zack Snyder’s Justice League podcast is very much a discussion about how the whole thing came together. And mostly how much of the other movies of the DCEU tend to contextualize this version of the movie. Especially when compared to the theatrical release. Joshua deep dives into the aesthetic, stylistic and storytelling differences between Joss Whedon and Zack Snyder as filmmakers. We both compare the films themselves on their own and separately while acknowledging if we can even judge the Snyder Cut on its own merits?
This Podcast Episode Gives Rise To A Larger Conversation
This episode of the Comic Years Podcast is largely historical, and less a review of the Snyder Cut. Joshua and I discuss the major ways that the two films play out, realizing that there’s a larger conversation to everything even before the Justice League, to make sense of this Justice League. So be sure to check out this Zack Snyder’s Justice League podcast episode on the Comic Years Podcast. Do let us know how you enjoyed Justice League and our historical build-up of this movie.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now streaming on HBO Max.
