Robbie Amell Returning To The Flash In Season 8
In the world of superheroes, it’s easy for our favorite characters to come back even after being killed. Whether it’s a supernatural way, time-traveling, or some other life-altering event, I think many fans have learned to always take a character’s death with a grain of salt. The latest character to come back from the dead? Ronnie Raymond, the other half of Firestorm from the CW’s The Flash (who also happens to be the cousin of Stephen Amell aka Green Arrow). Entertainment Weekly reported on Robbie Amell returning to The Flash for Season 8 next year.

Amell will return for two episodes as Ronnie, starting in Season 8’s 11th episode, although his role and what he’ll be doing are still unknown. We first met Ronnie Raymond in The Flash‘s first season. He was Caitlin Snow’s (played by Danielle Panabaker) fiancè and worked alongside her at S.T.A.R. Labs until he died in the particle accelerator explosion…or so everyone thought. It was discovered that Ronnie was actually alive, but the explosion had fused him and Martin Stein (played by Victor Garber) together, creating the fire-wielding superhero, Firestorm. Caitlin and Ronnie ended up getting married at the end of Season 1, although it was short-lived as Ronnie died saving Central City from a giant wormhole. He “came back” in Season 3 of The Flash in an episode titled “Into the Speed Force,” when an energy source appeared to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) as Ronnie.
Two other Firestorm actors (the aforementioned Garber and Franz Drameh) were recently seen in Legend of Tomorrow’s 100th episode, and the show appears to be setting up for Ronnie’s appearance e.g. Caitlin mentioning her deceased husband in the Season 8 premiere when she told Barry she was ready to start dating again. Hmm…she might want to put that on hold. In other characters-coming-back-from-the-dead, TVLine.com reported that Eddie Thawne (played by Rick Cosnett) would be returning for a flashback episode, although not in the same episode as Amell. Cosnett had played Iris’ (Candice Patton) boyfriend and later fiancè.
The Flash is going on hiatus until March 2022 after season 8’s epic “Armageddon” crossover event, so it’ll be a few months until we get to see Ronnie Raymond again. In the meantime, Amell can also be seen in Resident Evil: Raccoon City, Upload, and Code 8.
The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
