Aquaman 2’s New Suit Is Dark And Handsome
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom isn’t coming out until next year, but it looks like Arthur Curry already has a new look ready to go! In an Instagram post, Jason Momoa, who plays the titular character, shared two images: one of his original gold and green suit, and then a second image of a darker, yet still Aquaman-esque, suit, complete with more defined pectoral muscles and 8-pack abs. Aquaman 2’s new suit is the “Stealth” version, which is likely to help Arthur if he ends up dealing with the Lost Kingdom of Necrus (fittingly also known as the “Black City”) and its ruler, Mongo. James Wan, who directed the first Aquaman and is returning for the sequel, said the new suit is “Atlantean tech based on cephalopod’s camouflaging ability,” and takes inspiration from a similarly toned suit Aquaman wore in the comics, the blue camouflage introduced in Neal Pozner and Craig Hamilton’s 1986 miniseries. The blue was supposed to blend into the ocean better and not stand out like a gold/yellow suit would.
While the plot of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is still not fully known, many fans think it will involve Arthur and company looking for Necrus thanks to an Instagram post by James Wan. Given the shadowy history of this lost city and what it represents, it makes sense that the new suit in Aquaman 2 is also a darker color.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will bring back Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Amber Heard, despite an online campaign to get her fired. Game of Thrones actor Pilou Asbaek also joins the cast in an unknown role, although it would make sense he would be cast as Mongo if Necrus really is going to be part of the plot. Wan is directing as well as producing with Peter Safran. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will also be returning as a screenwriter.
