The upcoming Wheel of Time adaptation from Amazon Prime is currently in the midst of filming. We don’t yet have a proper teaser for the show (although we are expecting to see one soon). However, showrunner Rafe Judkins has been steadily releasing little tidbits for fans. This week we got a little Wheel of Time teaser with footage featuring the character of Lan Mandragoran – played by Daniel Henney. In the books, Lan is the dedicated bodyguard to Moraine (Rosamund Pike). He is her ‘Warder’ who is magically bonded to the Aes Sedai that he protects. Their bond gives him heightened abilities, but Lan was also an accomplished warrior long before he became a Warder. The footage shows off Lan’s fighting skills in action, as well as his outfit and styling.

The teaser gives us a voiceover (possibly a line of dialogue from the show itself) where Lan says “You think you know this world? You know nothing.” The intensity of Henney’s voice in this clip, and the husky vocal style definitely sounds like Lan. He is a character of few words, but when he does speak it is a good idea to listen. There are a few other important details from the book that made it into this short clip. The band that Lan wears around his head is called a ‘hadori.’ The men of Malkier (Lan’s home country) obtain their hadori when they become men. It is a symbol of their commitment to stand against the Dark One and the encroaching Blight. Lan is also often described as having a ‘face made of stone’ and Henney’s stoic portrayal here demonstrates that very well.

A Full Wheel of Time Teaser Should Be On The Way

This clip joins a host of other small teaser videos that Amazon has already released. We’ve gotten glimpses of Moiraine wielding the One Power; a snippet of Mat’s ruby dagger in the last Wheel of Time teaser, as well as the famous heron-marked sword. We actually see Lan wielding a sword in this brief clip as well, and it should be noted that he is one of the characters who has earned one of these master-crafted blades.

Rumors indicate that a full Wheel of Time teaser should be coming from Amazon in the next couple of weeks. So be sure to stay tuned for more updates on this adaptation by following Comic Years on Facebook and Twitter today.

She cut her genre teeth on the Wizard of Oz books at the tender age of 6 years old, and was reading epic adult fantasy novels by the age of 10. Decades later, she still consumes genre fiction like there is no tomorrow. She is delighted to be living through the golden age of sci-fi and fantasy popularity. She is unashamed of the amount of fanfiction that still lingers online under her name.
