James S.A. Corey Announced The Final Book Of The Expanse Is Now Complete
It is a bittersweet time to be a fan of The Expanse. The final book of The Expanse series and the final season of the television adaptation are both coming our way in the near future. Amazon announced a few months ago that the sixth season of The Expanse would be the last for the show. And now the authors of The Expanse – who work under the pen name James S.A. Corey – have announced that the last book is also complete and is now in the hands of the publisher.

We learned back in the Fall of 2020 that the final book in The Expanse series is called Leviathan Falls. The title is also a throwback to the very first book in the series – Leviathan Wakes. The authors always planned 9 books in the series. And they have stuck to that number. Of course, that is not counting the plethora of short stories and novellas they have also written in the world.
In the past decade since the first book of The Expanse came out, the series has become a beloved classic in the space opera genre. The television series has been as popular as the books. It was famously resurrected by Amazon Prime after Syfy cancelled the series after the third season. A successful fan petition helped to save the show. But the television series will inevitably end before reaching the conclusion of the books.

Leviathan Falls is due out sometime this year. It is currently in the hands of the editors and publishers at Orbit Books. Odds are good that it will come out in December, around the time the final season of The Expanse airs on Amazon Prime. That way anyone who wants to know what happens after the end of the series can turn to the books for a more ‘definitive’ conclusion.
