The Next Outlander Book – Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone – Gets A November Release Date
Fans of Outlander are currently in the midst of a long wait between seasons. The show’s production was on hold during the pandemic, but Outlander earned a renewal for season 7 in the midst of filming season 6. We still don’t know when the sixth season of the show will happen. But at least we can count on finally getting a new Outlander book before the end of the year. Author Diana Gabaldon made an announcement this week, finally answering the question that fans have been asking for years. We can confirm that the next Outlander book has a release date of November 23, 2021.
The Next Outlander Book Will Be The Penultimate Title

The upcoming Outlander book is the next installment in the main series. We have known for some time that the title is Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone. And author Diana Gabaldon has said that this should be the penultimate novel in the series. It is the 9th book of a planned 10 book series.
The title of the book refers to the beekeeping that Claire has taken up on Fraser’s Ridge. It is also a reference to an old tradition where beekeepers often speak to their hives, keeping the bees informed of major events like births, deaths, and departures. It’s not entirely clear who the “I” in the title is, but the predominant first-person narrator of the Outlander books has always been Claire. Where is Claire going in the next installment of the Outlander books? We could hazard a few guesses, but it most likely has something to do with the ongoing American Revolution which is the era the books currently inhabit.
The Outlander Show Is Dangerously Close To Outpacing The Books

It is very good news that the next Outlander book has a release date set for this year. The series definitely needs to start building up an endgame for the characters. After all, Diana Gabaldon put out the first Outlander book 30 years ago. She has written a variety of novellas and short stories in the world as well. But with each installment, the waiting period between books gets longer and longer.
We would hate to see Outlander fall victim to the same issues that plagued Game of Thrones, where the show outpaces the story of the books. (Especially since Outlander has plenty of of other issues to sort through, like their significant problem with rape as a plot device.)
The next season of Outlander is incorporating elements from books 7 & 8 (including a storyline that I absolutely hate). So they are getting pretty close to the point where there is no more text to adapt. Here’s hoping that book 10 won’t take another seven years for the Gabaldon to complete. (And also that she stops using sexual assault as a plot device.)
Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone will be out on November 23, 2021 from Penguin Random House. And it is probably safe to bet that the next season of Outlander will probably also air around that time. But we will certainly be keeping an eye on the show news and reporting it as we learn more.
