No sooner did the thoughts from my brain about a Zack Snyder anime, make their way online using my laptop, did the idea become reality. A new report confirms the voice cast for the Zack Snyder Twilight Of The Gods anime. Well, that’s not entirely accurate. I mean, we did get the voice cast for the new show, and it’s pretty incredible. But my wanting it, had nothing to do with it. The anime has been in the works now since late 2019, and is now, finally coming together. But let’s not bury the lead here, Zack Snyder has another project coming! And it’s an anime based on Norse Mythology, featuring an amazing cast voicing, literal, Gods. Let’s find out more on the Zack Snyder Twilight Of The Gods anime.

It looks like one of the fan-favorite director’s next works will be another adaptation. Snyder returned to original filmmaking after over a decade playing with others people’s IP with Army Of The Dead. But with the Zack Snyder Twilight Of The Gods anime coming out, it’s back to working with existing franchises and works. It’s definitely not the usual kind of adaptation. But to be clear, the mythological anime is only co-created and executive produced by Snyder. It’s his long-time collaborator Jay Oliva who co-created the series with Snyder, who will be the showrunner and director.

Oliva is no slouch either though when it comes to the animated world. The filmmaker has director credits steeped in the DC Comics animated films like Justice League Dark, Justice League: War, The Dark Knight Returns Parts 1 & 2, and many more. Oliva is actually also working on the other Zack Snyder anime coming out, the Army Of The Dead prequel: Lost Vegas. So if Snyder doesn’t do it for you, having such an acclaimed animation director working on Zack Snyder’s Twilight Of The Gods should definitely get audiences pumped!

Twilight Of The Gods Voice Cast Is Snyder Strong!

As part of their recent Netflix Geeked event, Netflix tweeted the voice cast of the new series. And the cast is pretty strong, immediately giving an unknown anime series some huge credibility. The characters will be familiar to anyone even just casually familiar with Norse Mythology. But the actors will be instantly recognizable to genre fans.

The cast includes heavyweights such as John Noble (Lord Of The Rings) as Odin, Corey Stoll (Ant-Man) as Hrafnkel, and Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead) as Inge. There are also the up and comers like Jamie Clayton (Sense 8) as The Seid-Kona, Kristopher Hivju (Game Of Thrones) as Andvari, and Pilou Asbaek (also Got) as Thor and Rahul Kohli (Haunting of Bly Manor and top choice for a live-action Ezra Bridger) as Egill. It’s a pretty huge cast from all genres of fandom, and hearing them all together should be fun as hell.

Ancient Mythology Seems To Be The Trend For New Netflix Anime

Beyond just this new Zack Snyder Twilight Of The Gods anime, Netflix’s last huge original anime was Blood Of Zeus. That series reimagines the Greek Gods mythology as an anime, featuring the journey of Heron. From Powerhouse Animation, the series was really incredible, experiencing the often seen Greek mythology from an anime lens, with all the brutality and violence and gore that comes with it. It was very cool.

So seemingly, Twilight Of The Gods will do the same, but with Norse mythology. It should definitely be interesting to see what Oliva can do with an original anime series, that’s not bound but the restrictions of decades of legacy as the DC Comics properties are. And the fact that it’s Norse Mythology this time around, is exciting for a whole other reason.

Zack Snyder Twilight Of The Gods Anime Is Interesting For A Lot Of Reasons

If any of these characters and Norse mythology sounds familiar, it’s because Marvel Studios built an entire franchise with it, using the comic book character of Thor. Many of these characters, including Loki, showed up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the comic versions, and now the MCU versions are most popular, the source material comes from mythology. So it’ll be interesting to see Snyder’s take on this already massively popular world and characters.

It’s also the closest thing we’ll get right now to a Zack Snyder MCU movie. And I can’t help but wonder if that’s not crossed anyone’s mind during the conception of Twilight Of The Gods. That fans, critics and everyone will obviously draw parallels with the Zack Snyder Twilight Of The Gods anime to the MCU version of those same characters. So is this kind of like a proof of concept situation to get Snyder into the MCU? I’ll put away my tin-foil hat now.

Regardless, Twilight Of The Gods is still a very exciting new anime to look out for. So stayed tuned to this space for more on the new anime as we find out.

Zack Snyder’s Army Of The Dead is now streaming on Netflix.
