The Promised Neverland is a very unique anime franchise that’s seeing a peak in its popularity right now. With the anime series completing season 1 and grabbing the attention of new audiences, a season 2 is on its way in 2021. There’s also an Amazon Prime live-action series in development, not to mention a live-action movie coming out of Japan. So when the anime voice cast ends up narrating the latest The Promised Neverland live-action movie trailer, it’s just the most amazing thing any fan could ask for.

From Manga to Anime to Live-Action Series and Movie

The manga of The Promised Never finished its run on June 2020. But the anime seemingly rekindled the love for the franchise and found a place in the hearts of new audiences as well. And it’s clear to see why. As I pointed out in my season 1 review, the series is never what it seems to be. It subverts expectations and has some of the best writing I’ve ever seen in an anime. So it’s popularity is very understandable. And even more so, seeing that there’s not going to be a lack of content from this franchise anytime soon.

The live-action movie of The Promised Neverland already released a teaser a while back, which just showed scenes with text and promised more to come. But the new The Promised Neverland live-action movie trailer brings the best of both mediums together, as the new trailer actually has the original Japanese voice cast of the anime narrating it.

The Promised Neverland Live-Action Movie Trailer Looks Incredible

The live-action movie will follow the same story as the manga and anime, about an orphanage that is much more. Three genius kids in this happy orphanage discover that they aren’t actually waiting for their adoption, but are to become food to a race of demons. After learning the truth, what ensues is a dangerous cat and mouse back and forth between the kids and their caretakers as they plot their escape. It’s a unique premise that is suspenseful and riveting throughout. The live-action movie will capitalize on the anime’s popularity and it looks incredible, to be completely honest.

On top of the original anime voice cast reprising their roles, the trailer itself is gorgeous. Fans of the anime will certainly recognize every scene in the live-action movie featured in the trailer. And it’s honestly an extremely close recreation from the manga to the live-action. It’s almost eerie how close the live-action movie stays to the anime. The first establishing shot in The Promised Neverland live-action movie trailer are almost indistinguishable from the anime. The tone, the vibrancy of colors to the palette, looks exactly that same. It’s astonishing to see a live-action remake of an anime stay so true to the original.

The Promised Neverland live-action movie, originally titled Yakusoku no Neverland, releases in Japan on December 18.
