It’s award season, where we celebrate the best and brightest from the movie and film industry. Similarly, it’s awards season for the anime medium as well. One of the biggest anime awards shows of the year comes from one of the biggest anime providers in the industry. Crunchyroll is arguably the biggest anime streamer and original content provider in the world. Their awards show recognizes and celebrates the best of the best when it comes to anime. And their categories are definitely more interesting than the traditional award show, celebrating very specific elements of the medium. It’s fun, exciting, and features a blend of anime from all over the spectrum, to appeal to all demographics and genres. So without further ado, here are the fifth annual Crunchyroll awards nominees!

The Crunchyroll Awards began back in 2017, and have undertaken many changes since. Newer and more interesting categories added to accommodate the wide range of genres in anime. Most notable was the first major shift after the first year, expanding the nominees from anime series to movies as well. Even manga was introduced to the categories of nominees for the new awards. With Crunchyroll now sold to Funimation, I can’t help but wonder what these awards shows will look like in 2022. But for now, let’s celebrate the fifth annual Crunchyroll awards nominees.

And I do mean that literally, because again, unlike other award shows, this one is in your hands. The Crunchyroll Anime Awards are very much audience-driven. As a result, you can go onto Crunchyroll’s website right now, and vote for all the categories below and choose your winner. Now, voting is open daily until January 22 at 5 PM PST. The results of the votes will be available on February 19 at 5 PM PST. So vote for your favorite shows like Beastars, Tower of God, The God Of High School, or my personal favorite, Japan Sinks: 2020.
